Trust and safety
Carbon markets need public confidence to accelerate. Here’s how Patch helps build it.
“When used with integrity, voluntary carbon markets unlock much-needed financing that can accelerate climate action. Transparency and robust standards are fundamental to these markets delivering this goal, and it is great to see how Patch’s approach to trust and safety can contribute to instilling confidence in the market.”

The risk
Carbon markets are developing, testing, and scaling the climate solutions the world needs to rebalance the planet. In this rapidly evolving world, carbon credit buyers need to have confidence their purchases are driving the intended climate impact.
Our approach
Patch delivers confidence to buyers through multiple systems of risk reduction, so they can take bold action to accelerate climate solutions.
01.
Comprehensive integrity review
Every project on the Patch platform passes a comprehensive integrity review based on the latest science and market standards. Our project evaluation process is aligned to ICVCM’s Core Carbon Principles and Article 6 standards. Every project evaluation includes an assessment unique and specific to the project’s type and its nuanced risks and benefits.
02.
Deeper analysis and due diligence
Patch’s platform consolidates project and integrity information from across the voluntary carbon market. Our climate experts then translate it to your specific criteria and sustainability strategy. From assessing climate impact to evaluating risk, no question is too complex for our experienced climate strategy and solutions team.

Risk mitigation strategies
Sometimes the risk of a project not delivering on its climate impact is inevitable. We work with you to proactively mitigate risk by building a diversified carbon credit portfolio with a mix of traditional and nascent technologies. We also reactively mitigate risk with default protection for any projects that are unable to deliver a future credit vintage.
A framework to reduce risk and increase transparency
